Dana Hills High School Academic Societies and Clubs for All Talents and Interests
Dana Hills High School is definitely the "land of many clubs" and there is certainly a society or club listed below that wants your gifts and talents! If you find one that fits your interests, see the Advisor in the Rm. # stated for more information. Some of these activities require tryouts taking place the year before. If you do not find a club here that speaks to your specialty, consider starting one yourself. However, be aware that there are strict CUSD district guidelines governing the formation of clubs and you definitely want to work through DHHS A.S.U. from step one! See Mr. Nedler for details.
California Scholarship Federation, Lindsay-Smith, Rm.702
CSF is a state organization which encourages an interest and pride in high standards of scholarship, as well as making possible further education for highly qualified students offering many scholarships. CSF sponsors a wide variety of enjoyable, educational and exciting experiences. Members are given the opportunity to help fellow classmates through a tutoring program and to receive exclusive admission to many excellent libraries. Membership is neither automatic not compulsory. Interested students must submit their membership applications during the first three weeks of each semester. A nominal fee is required for membership. Acceptance into the CSF is determined by the previous semester grades based on a point system. If a student has been a member for four semesters (including one semester based on his/her 12th year grades), the student becomes a life member (Sealbearer) and receives special recognition during the graduation ceremonies.
National Honor Society, McIntosh, Rm. 919
The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character. Members are selected by a faculty council based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Once selected, members have responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. The chapter engages in one or more service projects each year. It is an honor to be selected for this organization and the benefits of membership include opportunities for personal pride, school involvement and scholarships. The National Honor Society is an official component of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
