The philosophy of school athletic programs is stated in "State Guidelines for School Athletic Programs," published by the State Department of Education,1978. It is defined "...as that phase of the school's educational program in which students engage in organized competitive sports."
The purpose of the athletic program is to provide competitive experiences that "...foster the development of mind and body together in an awareness of the importance of both to the development and success of the whole person. Athletic activities stimulate harmony and understanding among people, regardless of sex, race, creed, color, culture, and national origin".
Dana Hills High School believes the athletic program serves an important part of the educational experiences of its students. It is realized that athletics is only one part of the total educational experience offered by the school and, as such, must be kept in balance with the rest of the school program
SOUTH COAST LEAGUE SPECATOR POLOCY
The California Interscholastic Federation has in place a code of ethics that embodies the spirit of high school athletics. Based on the CIF guidelines, South Coast League High Schools have developed the following Spectator Policy that will be enforced at all South Coast League athletic events.
All persons must remain in the designated home spectator area at all times while the contest is in progress. This includes timeouts, quarters, half times, etc.
Only positive comments or cheers will be addressed to any participant within the athletic venue, including visiting teams, visiting fans, and referees.
While on school property, the Spectator Policy will be in effect.
Any deviation from this policy could result in, but not limited to:
Removal from contest
Non-attendance at future contests
Thank you for joining us in the common goal of promoting good sportsmanship, citizenship, and respect of other teams, coaches, and officials in maintaining the integrity of South Coast League Athletics.
