PHILOSOPHY |
|
The philosophy of school
athletic programs is stated in "State Guidelines
for School Athletic Programs," published by the State
Department of Education,1978. It is defined "...as
that phase of the school's educational program in which
students engage in organized competitive sports."
The purpose of the athletic
program is to provide competitive experiences that "...foster
the development of mind and body together in an awareness
of the importance of both to the development and success
of the whole person. Athletic activities stimulate harmony
and understanding among people, regardless of sex, race,
creed, color, culture, and national origin".
Dana Hills High School believes
the athletic program serves an important part of the educational
experiences of its students. It is realized that athletics
is only one part of the total educational experience offered
by the school and, as such, must be kept in balance with
the rest of the school program.
