ABOUT ME

I have a Bachelor of Science in Aquatic (fresh and marine) Biology from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. While at UCSB, I became very involved in marine and ecological research and worked as a UC research diver for Professors in a variety of environments from oil rigs, to reefs, and open ocean.

After graduating from UCSB, I moved to Boulder, Colorado where I worked as an environmental consultant. As a consultant, I worked on environmental assessments of Superfund Sites. Superfund sites are considered by the EPA to be the most polluted areas in the United States. Most my work was spent performing toxicity tests on salmon and trout for the State of California, collecting and processing fish for lab studies in the Great Lakes region, and performing assessments for Native American tribes in the state of New York.

After consulting for two years, I moved back to California to pursue a career in teaching. I have been teaching Science and coaching Academic Teams at Dana Hills since 1999.

I'm married to my high school sweethart, an elementary teacher in Capistrano, and we have three children. We all enjoy camping, backpacking, SUP' ing, going to Baja, and just about any beach related activity you can do. In addition to teaching, I enjoy woodworking in my shop (my garage) building cabinets, built-ins, furniture, and cool stuff for my kids.
