Of the approximately 112,000 public and private schools in the nation, 166 were selected as the best-National Blue Ribbon Schools. Of these 166 schools nationwide, 27 are from California, 4 are from Orange County, a phenomenal honor.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established by the U.S. Secretary of Education in 1982 to:

  • Identify and give public recognition to outstanding public and private schools across the nation.
  • Make available a comprehensive framework of key criteria for school effectiveness that serves as a basis for self-assessment and planning in schools.
  • Facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools based on a common understanding of criteria related to success.
